evil villainous leaf-thiefs (or snatchers)

They're back:

it's the attack of the
EVIL VILLAINOUS LEAF THIEFS
(or snatchers, if you prefer)

All around this city, the leaves are turning beautiful colors, and falling to the ground, making delightfully crunchy noises when I step on them.

And my appartment complex rakes them up EVERY DAY!!
They're stealing my CRUNCHY-FUN!!

I just don't understand the idea behind raking the leaves every day. Each day, more leaves will fall, and each day, the guys in safety vests come around and rake them up. But doesn't that seem a little bit dumb?? I mean, there will come a day when there are no more leaves to fall. And on that day, they will rent a leaf-vaccuum anyway (I kid you not!) and suck the rest of them up. So what are they all doing out there every day???

Raking leaves each day is a perpetual activity. It's like washing your fork after each bite. Why not just wait until you're done the meal??

Part of autumn's charm is the awesome colored leaves (especially the red ones), the breath you can see, and the leaves you can hear when you walk. (I think it's the only time that something makes more sound when it's dead than when it's alive...)

I'm just glad that the university leaves the leaves around for a bit...
at least they aren't stealing my crunchy-fun...
